Justify the Personal Ratings
Tell us why MovieLens rated a particularly movie so high or low. Cite ratings on a couple of similar movies, and list the top 3-5 tags that contributed.

localisation and more meaning to tags
Hi,
I love the new desing of the site available via beta!
I would prefer localisation (translatioin). I have some problem to describe my emotional factor and find the right tags to find new movies I did not see yet.Sometimes it is hard to tell what I like in a movie and dislike in a very similar one. For example I very like Ocean's trilogy, but do not like the Italian job. The similarity is very high, but... Ocean's has... spirit, the other one is just a pretty good job, just like McDonnald's... if you know what I mean.

Add a language filter for searches
One of the features that kept my interest with Movielens was how varied the nationality of the recommendations I received. looking at my current recommendations the top ones are all western films or foreign films that were redistributed in the west. Would it be possible to add a filter by language and/or nationality?

Add a link to add to my Netflix Queue or Amazon Wish List
I would love to be able to add a movie to my Netflix queue or Amazon wish list with one click. Also would love it if ratings were synchronized. Synchronization with other systems is the future - you guys should be investigating!

Customize row categories
In the home page, let the user choose the row categories/filters. Right now you show "Top Picks" "Higest rated recent releases" and "Most rated recent releases".
I would like, at least, to have more kind of rows availabe (I guess there will be since this is only a preview) and to be able to choose (or hide/show) the ones that interest me. More advanced option/ or in the future, also to set(& name) my own search filters to define rows.1 voteThanks – great idea!

Option to get Top picks based on TARGET mood
Since there was a question in the survey about moods, I expect it to be a parameter in the picking of movies.
Let me explain TARGET mood: The mood I want to be, not the mood I am now. For example "happy" as target mood is more accurate for picking movies than "depressed" as current mood. Because a "depressed" user might want different picks, one might want to cheer up, other might want to sulk in self-pity.3 votes -

Decrease the weight of the age of the movies in making recommendations
Having lived for awhile I have seen many more older movies than newer ones. Because I have reviewed more older movies the recommender seems to think I mostly enjoy older movies. It seems that they bubble up to the top even when they are not similar to items I have liked in the past.

Consider year/decade in your suggestions
I very rarely watch films that are previous to the 70's, and favour movies from the 90's and after.
I have very little interest in older movies, however I have a great number of movies that are older,My votes show this preference, has 80% of my votes are from movies from the 80's or later.
I have a few user friends that think alike, please take it into consideration changing the algorithm

Consider language in you suggestions
I very rarely watch films in languagues other than English, Spanish or Portuguese and I have very little interest in other language movies, however over half of my top picks are pictures in other languages like italian, french.

Smaller/no images for mobile users
I use movielens on my Nexus 4 phone. The reliance on the huge movie poster idiom makes the site mostly unusable on my phone. It is an extremely inefficient use of space. I have to scroll like crazy to digest even a small but of information. I would much prefer compact grid for results like the old site.

Movie Details & Options When Hovering Over Cover
It'd be great if when I hovered over a movie cover I could see a brief synopsis of the film w/additional options (i.e., Add to Wishlist, etc.), instead of having to click on the movie.

Filter by language
It would be nice if I could remove anything that is in a language I cannot understand

Yet more genres would be great.
I love the increased amount of genres, but could we have even more? Maybe "Psychological" "Superhero" "Fairy Tale" and "Monster" for starters?

Occasionally "force" me to rate movies I've already rated.
I end up rating movies that I've recently seen much higher than similarly good movies from years ago. Giving me (users) an occasional movie to rate that I've already rated without my showing my previous rating might keep algorithms freshly accurate, or at least would provide additional data points. Complex? Yes, but perhaps quite valuable.
