I understand and fundamentally agree with your concern. However, tags are contributed by the community, not our team. We currently do not have any mechanism or policy for censoring tags. Suggestions?
FYI, you can flag tags as “bad”, which will make them less likely to show up to subsequent users.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedNo one is too old for animation. It is true some animation targeted for youth. But, some animation is not for kids at all, e.g., "Aachi and Ssipak." And some animation is better appreciated by adults, e.g., "Persepolis," "Waking Life." If you think a movie is bad, feel free to rate it as so. Note: the non-personalized recommender should recommend the animation that most users have in high regard.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedThere are tags. The tag "bollywood", brings a few results, "Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India" is IMHO the best. Too many movies that should have this tag fail to have it, e.g., "Bunty Aur Babli" has *no* tags. Anyway, most of this information comes from the users anyway. Is best if users add tags to properly identify movies and ease the access to newer users. It should be considered etiquette, yet many of us are lazy on that regard.

Thanks for the bug report. We know about two issues:
- can’t search for numbers (e.g., “300”)
- can’t search for non-ascii characters (e.g., “amélie”)
We plan to fix these problems soon. Also, we plan to add support for multiple/secondary titles, which may address Raven’s comments.
If you post examples of searches that fail that don’t belong to those two categories, that would be very helpful.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedverified it is now possible to search titles (or names) with non ascii characters. I had no problem searching for "Amélie" as long as I wrote it with the acute accent in place. However, it would be best if any diacritics in letters were ignored on any search the same way that the letter case (lower/upper) is currently ignored. Most people probably want to search for "Amelie" and be able to find "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain," A.K.A. "Amélie."
Regarding the search for "Tourist Trap," I verified Essi's failed search. Weird! However I found some community tags for the movie when I looked at the direct link provided. The movie had no votes. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedI agree that title search suggestions/results should include all titles with words matching those in the search key regardless of their order. As far as I can tell, that is how searching movie titles still works in classic.movielens.org ! ! !
This concept should also apply to personnel, i.e., first name and last name order should be irrelevant on searches, especially since there are languages where the family name is normally placed first.
Thank you very much. -

Wow! I have not seen "chick flicks" as a movie genre, but I found there is a "chick flick" tag. To play "devil's advocate" I do not think the existence of tags in general is responsibility of grouplens but the community, in general. Yet I think there must be a moderator somewhere.
The movie industry is male dominated and we accept as normal ideas that are full of prejudice. Yes, we need more women in positions where decisions are made.
