Thanks for the bug report. We know about two issues:

    • can’t search for numbers (e.g., “300”)
    • can’t search for non-ascii characters (e.g., “amélie”)

We plan to fix these problems soon. Also, we plan to add support for multiple/secondary titles, which may address Raven’s comments.

If you post examples of searches that fail that don’t belong to those two categories, that would be very helpful.

I wasn't a user of the old movielens, but I have noticed this problem already in the current version!

    Examples:
I added this French movie to Movielens, for instance: https://movielens.org/movies/116945
The primary title on IMDB is "Korkoro" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1495823/ and the movie is also known under the titles of "Liberté" and "Freedom". For some reason (I am not sure why), Movielens has it listed only as "Freedom", and it cannot be searched for by the other names.

I also added this English language film https://movielens.org/movies/116947
It has the title of "Stand Off" in North America and "Whole Lotta Sole" elsewhere. It can only be found as "Whole Lotta Sole" here on Movielens.
