Yes. We plan to put some tagging information in the header, as you suggest.

We are planning to add the capability of filtering by language, which I think gets you what you’re looking for.
I suppose the other option would be to have a filter to “hide a genre” – e.g., all genres except x. We’re not planning that one, but happy to hear feedback.

Nothing planned yet, but we are certainly open to this idea!
For context, we had a discussion forum in the mid-2000s that was pretty successful. We see the shift to the Q&A interface (maybe 2009?) as a failure, since that really dropped discussion activity.

To me, this is one of the biggest weaknesses of movielens at the moment. I'd love to write mini-reviews for movies and exchange my ideas with other users. A comment section for each movie would be the best option, I think. A separate forum would not be as comfortable to use.

I think this would add a lot to movielens. It would help us decide whether we really want to follow the recommendation and it would give us a better understanding how the algorithm works and modify our behavior if necessary.

Very true, we’ve found in our research that this is the case. It would be nice to have a “rating mode” where you can turn the predicted stars off.

How about an additional button next to the 'view' option and the filters?
In addition to hiding ratings, this could also include the option of displaying average ratings instead of a prediction. In certain cases, I am more interested in the average rating (in the highest rated list, for example) and it is tiresome to look at each movie individually.Klaus supported this idea ·

The problem is that the language category is misleading. For example, there are quite a few Hollywood action movies out there that have both English and Arabic listed as language, just because the terrorist villain shouts "Yalla!" at some point during a gunfight ;) The same is true for virtually any movie that treats issues of multicultural society. In these cases filtering by language will neither help me to avoid nor to look specifically for a foreign movie.
