all-time highest-rated/most-rated
Currently, the 'highest rated' and 'most rated' lists only display recent releases. Please add lists for all-time highest rated and most rated movies.

Written by...
On a film's page the right side details director, cast and release date but I would love to also see the writer.

add friends (via social media)
functionalities:
see their statistics (as we can see our own which is nice!)
make recommendations to one of them or a group of people, write them 'personal reviews' (PR)...

Search Word Order should be irrelevant.
Struck for the name of a movie, tried to search for "Anonymous Authors" [without quotations] which came up with no predictive suggestions in dropdown nor any search results as the movie title is "Authors Anonymous". Also in tag search, the same search implementation is concurrent.
The order should not matter, many users may give up and in longer titles, the number of permutations will increase many fold. Finally, the movie title in the database may not match the exact title word order that users will commonly know the movie by, or may not match one of the many various titles…

Standardise common tags
For example, should I usefully be tagging a Japanese animated film 'animated', 'animation', 'anime' or 'cartoon'? It seems a few standardised tags would neaten the database a little.
Could be combined with the earlier 'auto-complete' suggestion.

Don't display existing ratings
You will probably get ratings closer to what the user actually feels if you don't display the existing rating for the film. Maybe a 'recommendation mode' where the rating is displayed and a 'rating mode' where it isn't?

Include more women on your team - lessen the male bias. Don't use stereotypical terms like "chick flicks" to trivialize types of movies
"Chick flicks" as a category? Inherent negative bias makes it appear that the movies are automatically shallow. I find the terminology patronizing.
2 votesI understand and fundamentally agree with your concern. However, tags are contributed by the community, not our team. We currently do not have any mechanism or policy for censoring tags. Suggestions?
FYI, you can flag tags as “bad”, which will make them less likely to show up to subsequent users.

Sort by: average rating
Sort the results by average rating.
.... Wait a minute... you already have it, but it is just not on the drop-down list when you click 'sort by'.For everyone else, add this: &sortBy=avgRating&minPop=100

Similar Movies
Why do the similar movie suggestions include movies I've alreday rated? There should be a way to select unrated only like there is with other selections.

Filter by reason for movie rating
It would be cool if you could filter out movies rated R based on why they were rated that way. E.g. if you don't have a problem with bad language but are looking to avoid violence and sexual themes

Add mood and tone to the recommendations and search
1) I'd like to see recommended movies on the main page by mood and tone, further filtered by drama. Automatically generated categories like "Dark comedies" or "cerebral scifi" would be great.
2) I'd like to be able to search for such categories via the search bar. In other words, I'd like to be able to type "goody comedies" into the search bar and have those result pop up.
3) The categories for mood and tone should NOT be left to the community, but be preselected (from a large list of a few dozen). This is so that we get clearer…

Sort by average rating
It's not that i think the other sortings such as recommended movies are bad, but i miss a way to find which movies are the average "best" movies. Of course too low #ratings would obscure the result, but there could be a requirement of the #ratings for a movie to show up with a high average rating.

Better phone browsing
There is no way to filter movies by a certain streaming service on my phone. I like to use movie lens to decide what to watch what's available on Netflix but can't find a way to do it on my phone.

Multiple Tags in search
Please allow multiple tags to be used to search for movies, not just one. For example: 'atmospheric' + 'superb soundtrack' + 'epic'.

Checkbox to indicate that a movie wasn't finished
I generally watch a movie for a half-hour and then decide whether to keep going or not. If it hasn't caught my interest, I'll stop it there. But I generally don't rate those movies, because for all I know, the last hour of the movie might be really great, so if I gave it a low rating, it would skew my recommendations away from other movies that were as good as the back half of that movie. So, it would help me feel comfortable providing more ratings if there was a distinct way to indicate that I made a rating…

Remove "More Trailers To Watch"
The "more trailers to watch" section at the bottom of the screen while one watches a trailer is really distracting as it obscures part of the image.
Getting rid of it entirely or having it pop up at the end would be ideal.

A back button
If having researched about a specific movie, i.e. clicked on the director, an actress etc. one cannot get back to that movie without searching for it again.
