Show recommendations from multiple sources
MovieLens supports multiple concurrent recommendation technologies, but currently only exposes one of them (an algorithm called item-item collaborative filtering that has been "tuned" for our community).
It would be fun to let users switch the default recommendation technology in their user profile.
Also, on movie details pages it would be interesting to see the predicted ratings of different algorithms.

@Emma - thanks for the feedback. We do currently have a filter for minimum (and maximum) number of ratings that you can apply to any search page. We've heard several times from users who are interested in "sticky" filters that will always apply, or apply for the duration of a login session. With this feature, you could say "until I say differently, only show me movies with at least 100 ratings". Would this get you what you're looking for?

I like the idea of being able to toggle the recommendation algorithms, because I got tired of seeing the same old movies time after time on the old site, but I am finding that on the new site a majority of my recommendations have been rated by less than 20 people. I feel that maybe we should be able to set parameters for number rated. A movie that has only been rated 5 times is not necessarily an indicator of what the recommendation would be if it was rated by 100 people, or 1000 people. Also, I do like "rare" movies but I don't want to constantly see a movie pictured that I am interested in (or else I would mark "hide this") but it is so rare that I have been unable to find an outlet to watch it.
