Bootstrap my ratings from IMDb
IMDb has an rss feed and a csv export for user's movie ratings.
It would be great to use this to populate my ratings here, as it's frustrating to do it in several places, and this should allow you to provide users with much better recommendations when joining.

I finally manage to find that feature (I came to this site just because of it): https://movielens.org/profile/settings/import-export
(Guys it would be nice to put a clear link to this, this page is pretty useless without it)

imdb import seems broken to me too as of 2017-12-28. Could it be that imdb's CSV format changed?

Yeah an import tool would be AWESOME. This website is AWESOME.

@JP - sorry about that! I see an error in our logs that could be you. We'll investigate.

I always get " Sorry, a problem occurred while importing your ratings."
Is there something I can do?

There was a bug in how our code handled internationalization, which I have fixed. Please create a ticket if you see more breakage!

Jinni.com will be closing down in a month. They promised to send exports of users ratings so you can expect many people to start asking about how they can import them to MovieLens. :-)

Thanks for the update.

Yeah, there's a student working on building this feature now. It should be available pretty soon.

Has there been any decision on this?

Currently the site jinni uses an importer that works stupendously well, so it's doable

To support import, we need to have a mapping of source movie identifiers to movielens movie identifiers. We know identifiers for imdb, tmdb, and netflix. It would be great to have more importers in the long run, but we also have to develop these mappings, not just an import format.

If at all, let import ratings from any source ou may export ratings (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) not only IMDB. Just specify an import format to follow.
