Hover over options such as add to wishlist
Instead of the little menu by the rating where you can choose to add a movie to your wishlist etc. it would be much nicer to have those options while hovering over the poster. (And, as another person suggested, have the title.)
Since the posters are so large, I think hover over options would look really nice with the overall look.
10 votesI’m going to mark this as completed, since we now have the “pin” wishlist widget on each movie tile.

Please put movie trailer directly under plot description
Why do I have to scroll past similar movies first?
9 votesThanks for the feedback. In the just-released version 4.0.4 the trailers are just below the plot summary.

Save clicks - bring back Search box
New layout is clean, appealing, easy to read. But...there are lots of vacant pixels that could be home to the Search box, instead of having to click Search EVERY single time. I bounce back & forth among Netflix, ML, and IMDB. Old site was easier to use for this purpose.
8 votesWe now have a search box that is always present at the top of the page.

Predictive ratings below the Similar Films listed on a film's page
As well as the ability to sort similar films by highest ratings. After watching a film I liked, I often scanned the old movielens for films with high predictive ratings in the Similar section
7 votesThanks for the feedback!
You can sort by highest rating (click the pull-down on the right side of search pages).
We now have predictions below similar movies.

Be able to search without opening menu
Pretty self explanatory. Looks like there's plenty of room for a search bar, and possibly a few more shortcuts, without clicking the little "open menu" button.
7 votesWe reorganized the search a bit so that it is easier to reach. We also added a keyboard shortcut – you can type “/” to open the search box any time.
(update)
We now have a search box that is always present at the top of the page. -
Allow me to view my rated movies
I could not find an option to see the movies I already rated. It had good suggestions and I would like to use it as reference to see some again.
6 votesThis was released in version 4.0.4.

Movie tagging
There is no way to see or add tags in the new version of MovieLens.
We're planning to put these features back in as soon as we can.
6 votesA first version was released in 4.0.4.

When searching for movies, ignore special characters
When looking through the titles on Movielens, any special characters like 'ó' or 'ñ' should be seen as plaintext, like 'o' and 'n'. These characters are not easy to type, and such specificity isn't necessary. For example, if you typed "Automata" into the search field, the movie Autómata is not listed as a search suggestion, nor is it a search result. If the 'ó' character was viewed as an 'o' this would not be the case.

Predictive search
when searching, it would be cool to have predictive text like google does
6 votesGreat feedback, thanks! We include this in release 4.0.4.

Make it possible to see which movies are on the wish list
In the old search results it was possible in a glance to see which movies were already on one's wish list. It would be nice if there was a small check (or something similar) on the movie image to let you know without having to click on whether that the movie is already on your wish list.
5 votesThis was released in version 4.0.4

please clarify the difference between 'warrior' and 'wizard' recommender
a basic tutorial on the effect of picking different recommenders
5 votesThe dropdown now includes a brief description of the differences between the two algorithms.

Fix the rating by year graph
The average rating by year graph is set to start at year 0. If you were to input the year of the oldest movie on the platform as the minimum year value that would make the graph more interesting.
4 votesHowdy,
Sorry it took us a while to get to this issue. It turned out that some 187 movies had erroneous date data listing them as released on year 0000, this bug only triggered if you happened to rate one of those movies making it hard to figure out. But we found it and fixed it!

Font size on mobile needs to be smaller
The subject says it all. Referring to the new beta site. Very muco unusably large and non-downscalable on my S4/Chrome.
4 votesWe made the fonts smaller on small screens.

Deleting tags
Can we please have some way to delete tags from movies? Every computer animated movie seems to be tagged "Pixar".
I know it wouldn't do to have people deleting other peoples' tags, but maybe the tags could be deleted from public view if a certain number of users delete them?
Thanks
3 votesClick on the “+” button, then select “this tag does not apply, or is a bad tag”

Provide more detail on recommendation engines used for A and B lists in survey
Are they both item-item based? what are the differences? How can we choose between them?
A blog post would be nice.
3 votesDetails published by Ekstrand et al in recsys 2014, though I cannot say which experimental condition you were in.

The system now describes “the wizard” and “the warrior” in the user interface.

Recommendations not updated
I rated 30 movies a week ago, but my recommendations are still very generic, it seems to be a list of generally highly rated films, like IMDB Top 100, nothing that I would really like much. Is this a bug?
3 votesIt really depends which movies you rated. Typically, when you start rating less common movies, you’ll start to get less common recommendations.

Is it possibile a massive insert of movie evaluations by uploading a .csv?
I have a personal movie evaluation list. I can export it into a .csv file. How can I upload it in order to add my evaluations to movielens?
I would like to avoid to myself the handmade 1-by-1 evaluation...thank you
3 votesThis is indeed possible! In your user settings (found in the account drop-down on the top-right) there is a page for doing bulk import/export of ratings. I believe the format for import is designed to match the IMDB export format.
You can find that page directly at this URL: https://movielens.org/profile/settings/import-export
Let us know by email if this doesn’t work and we can look into this case in more detail (I wouldn’t want to ask you to share rating details in this public forum)

IMDb import, tell which one could not be found
It is now possible to import IMDb ratings, which is great.
But some movies cannot be found, and the user does not know which one.
It would be great to give the list, and the possibility to create their page.3 votesI just pushed a release that includes this change. Thanks for the suggestion!

Search box always visible
it would be much more easy to use your site if the search box was always visible, instead of having to click on it every time,
3 votesdone.

Selecting a search suggestion with the enter key does not work.
If you start entering a movie title in the search bar, suggestions will be displayed underneath it. You can highlight these by using the arrow keys. However, if you hit enter to select a suggestion, you get a page with the title of the movie displayed on top and "No results!" displayed underneath it. But if you click on the result it pulls up the movie without a problem. Really minor bug, but it is something I've encountered numerous times.
3 votesThanks for the bug report. I replicated it in firefox. We will fix this bug soon.
