Help button
I very sillily skipped the tutorial at the beginning and have struggled to work out how to rate. I realise it's not that difficult now but spent ages looking for a help button.
Sorry for being an idiot 🤣5 votes -

Add ability to sort alphabetically (universally)
Universally across all the pages on the MovieLens website, the 'Sort by' dropdown currently does not allow members to sort the displayed category's movies alphabetically; just 4 sort options are presented: 1) recommended, 2) # ratings, 3) release date, 4) date added to MovieLens.
From time to time (but certainly not always and certainly not as the default), I'd like to view certain pages sorted alphabetically. Almost 6 years ago, a member posted the suggestion here to add the ability to sort 'My Ratings' (specifically) alphabetically ( https://movielens.uservoice.com/forums/238501-general/suggestions/6378010-add-the-ability-to-sort-my-ratings-alphabeticall ) and a few other members agreed that they'd also like the…
1 voteSorry for taking so long to get to this, We’ve been working to rewrite some of our sort logic for a while just to clean up some really messy code that was getting in the way of changes.
It actually looks like this is implemented in the backend already, so it should definitely be added to the front-end by the next update.

More movies per page (100, 500)
Sometimes, I go through movies with a low rate count and try to find some I've seen. I know it helps you guys. With the very limited number of movies displayed per page however, it is tedious. If I could choose 500 movies per page, that would be great :)

Give option to hide wishlist (clearly I haven't seen them and would like other suggestions) movies in top picks for you page.

Export all recommendations
Is there a way to just export the movies that are suggested that fall under "drama" for example ? Or all the recommendations and then I can filter them out - I believe I used to be able to do this on the legacy system.

IMDB "TV Mini Series" Classification
Many docuseries' that are technically classified on IMDB as a "TV Mini Series" are already in the database (ex. Jinx, The Staircase). However, adding them via a IMDB link always get rejected because of the "TV Mini Series" classification. I don't mind emailing the link for approval, but maybe this can be straightened out?

Systemize or categorize tags better.
Create some sort of organization for tags and remove redundant tags like "surreal" "surrealism" and "surrealist" or "dreamy" and "dreamlike". Or have a way to have all of these tags under one banner, something more convenient or streamlined.

Charts improvements
Hi,
First of all let me tell you how helpful this website is. Thank you for your hard work!
It's a bit confusing that there's overlap of years in the "release years of your rated movies" chart. For example, there's a column for movies released between 2000 and 2005, and the next column is for movies released between 2005 and 2010. So, which column counts the movies released on 2005? The former? The latter? Both?!
Also, the "your ratings over time" could use some interactive abilities (focusing on a specific time range, filter out movies by rating, genre and release…1 vote -
Allow import of letterboxd .csv files
I'd use this site more if I could just have all my hundreds of ratings imported over from letterboxd, IMDB's next largest competitor. As far as I can tell the difference in the file is that the letterboxd one contains urls from the letterboxd database.

Rating comparison
A feature to compare two specific users - presumably yourself and a friend - showing general trends and differences. For instance, users may both rate 80s action movies higher, but one might always rate Stallone movies higher and another Schwarzenegger, for instance.

sorting by least fav
rating with the least favorite movie could help engine to provide suggestion
1 voteThe ability to reverse the “recommended” sorting option should be available next update. I think this will cover your use case.

Be more like Jinni
I miss Jinni.
It's been years and I'm still grieving.
I miss:
browsing a list of films in which some films are well-known and other unknown, and being able to chose the proportion in which those two are mixed
ratings creating preference poles using 3 descriptive adjectives, such as "misfit non-linear anti-hero", or "feel-good romance non-linear", etc. All the time Jinni was alive, I have loved being able to chose a film by the mood I wanted to be in, from a list of films that were cherry-picked for me.
being able to filter each list by year (I cannot…

Wow, thanks / this and that
Firstly, I've spent lockdown day 39 trying to find a replacement for Trakt. As a subscribed pro Trakt user I am fed up with the CRAP movies it suggests to me. It thinks I am a teenage boy who loves action, horror or frat comedies. Thank the frigging lord I found you. I have also extensively tried both Letterboxd and Simkl, and none were any different from Trakt. I LOVE the way this hides stuff I have seen, I love you can hide stuff you don't want to see, for whatever reason, and I much prefer the movies it is…

Sync with Trakt. tv
Trakt tracks what I watch. Would be easier if my trakt ratings just synced with Movielens. You'd get a lot more data on viewing habits and tastes.

So I click on a movie to rate it...
And then I rate it. And then... I click back? And start back at the top of the list? Not very intuitive. Or efficient?
