typing in the search bar
recently, when typing multiple words in the search bar, the cursor deletes spaces, so when I type "The Hunt for Red October" it becomes "TheHuntForRedOctober." I don't recall this happening before, and it doesn't happen on any other sites I use.

for some reason no recommendations
Don't know why, voted over 200. Feel like there should be something to recommend. Not sure if bug but feel this feedback is needed.
1 voteThanks for the feedback. Seems to be a common issue with the wizard recommender.

Search box always visible
it would be much more easy to use your site if the search box was always visible, instead of having to click on it every time,

IMDb import, tell which one could not be found
It is now possible to import IMDb ratings, which is great.
But some movies cannot be found, and the user does not know which one.
It would be great to give the list, and the possibility to create their page.3 votesI just pushed a release that includes this change. Thanks for the suggestion!

Please add "remember me" feature
Love the sight, typically use it 5-7 times a week! Sometimes I am asked to log back in, and I would love it if there was a 'remember me' function so that I don't have to do this anymore! Thanks!
Love this site, and the old one also!1 vote -
recommender
what is the difference between the different recommenders?
1 voteHi! We’re currently conducting research into how our members use this feature, so we are keeping the details secret. Basically, they represent different algorithms for computing your recommendations.

Explain what the recommendation options mean.
We have two recommendation options (the warrior and the wizard) that are both based on personnal rating. On the other hand I, and most probably other people as well, have no idea what is the difference between them two. It would be so easy and fast to just put and explanation mark or short comment explaining the difference in a friendly manner for the people to see (myself included).

Recommendations not updated
I rated 30 movies a week ago, but my recommendations are still very generic, it seems to be a list of generally highly rated films, like IMDB Top 100, nothing that I would really like much. Is this a bug?
3 votesIt really depends which movies you rated. Typically, when you start rating less common movies, you’ll start to get less common recommendations.

Downloading raw data of our ratings
I would like to download the data of my ratings, including corresponding movie data such as year, genre, length, # ratings, etc, for personal analysis/visualization! Can you please allow export to .csv or similar format?
10 votesWe’re planning to add that feature.

We released this feature early this summer. Visit settings > import/export -
Wizard recommender mis-ordering?
Hi,
It seems that the Wizard recommender doesn't order the recommendations correctly if there are too many films in the whole set. I see films with 3.5 star recommendations above 4 star, and this persists until I add in a filter that reduces the total number of films selected eg num. ratings.
I presume this is a bug, and hopefully one that can be easily fixed?
Thanks for the site, and keep up the good work. I look forward to reading what you've found out about recommendations and choices!
1 voteHi John, thanks for the suggestion. This isn’t a bug (we’re not ordering strictly by prediction). However, we’ve gotten other reports on this one, and recognize that it is confusing. I think we’ll probably add separate sorting options: sort by predicted rating, and sort by movielens recommended order.

have the searchbox accessible at all times
why press a button to have it visible, when there is room for it to be there always?

We implemented a rough equivalent of the “info link” if you do your searches in list mode rather than grid/image mode.

search box
I don't like having to find a button to click on to open the search box on the first page.
1 voteWe now have a search box that is always present at the top of the page.

Tag browsing?
I would really like to see a list of all the tags (not just the most common ones), just like I can see all the genres. Does this exist and I'm just missing it?
PS: MovieLens has been a favorite of mine for years. The new site design is such a pleasant surprise! Absolutely beautiful UX. You are bringing innovative movie-digesting epicness to the masses :) Congratulations!
1 voteThanks for the positive feedback, we appreciate it!
At the top of the “community tags” section, there’s a toggle that reads “view: top/all”. Click on “all”.

Deleting tags
Can we please have some way to delete tags from movies? Every computer animated movie seems to be tagged "Pixar".
I know it wouldn't do to have people deleting other peoples' tags, but maybe the tags could be deleted from public view if a certain number of users delete them?
Thanks
3 votesClick on the “+” button, then select “this tag does not apply, or is a bad tag”

stay logged in
In the old version, I could stay logged in so that I did not have to log in each time I visited the site.
That is no longer the case. Can you reactivate that feature?

How do we edit movies that have incomplete information
Often, I add release date, omitted key actor, or omitted language to a movie entry. Are we to keep doing that, and how? If not, who will police this?
1 voteWe provide a link to tmdb, which hosts the movie information

Save clicks - bring back Search box
New layout is clean, appealing, easy to read. But...there are lots of vacant pixels that could be home to the Search box, instead of having to click Search EVERY single time. I bounce back & forth among Netflix, ML, and IMDB. Old site was easier to use for this purpose.
8 votesWe now have a search box that is always present at the top of the page.
