    I was thinking along similar lines for movies I've seen but don't remember clearly, but then I just started clicking the trailers for those, and memory catches up immediately allowing me to rate them (and also sometimes causing me to watch the movie again).

    Very true, we’ve found in our research that this is the case. It would be nice to have a “rating mode” where you can turn the predicted stars off.

    I've thought about this so many times on imdb, and now when finding MovieLens.
    Even though I rate very thoughtfully – it would be nice to take any bias out of the picture when in "rating mode".
