Agreed, but I would like clear separation.

It would be great to add series to movielens. I´ve ratet so many movies but i cant rate the series i watched.

I agree, and also like the suggestion that you could filter TV series out. Sometimes I really do only want to watch a movie. But half my Netflix queue is TV series, and I'd like to rate them here and get additional recommendations.

Surely, good series are too worthy to add. And recommendations in movies/ series should correlate much.

AFAIK, there are currently no good TV series recommendation sites out there, and lots of demand.

MovieLens would probably get a flood of new users if word got out that the feature was added.

I wholeheartedly agree. Nowadays, with bitorrent, netflix, and other on-demand viewing solutions, I can watch an entire series with the same ease I can watch a movie - it's just longer (sometimes much, much, longer). For example, I just finished watching the entire series "Bones" - all 12 seasons (!) of it - which series should I look for next, given that I liked Bones so much? I would have liked to give Bones 5 stars, and have Movielens recommend more series (as well as movies) based on this like.
I think doing this should be pretty simple - series (entire series - not individual seasons or episodes) could be added as a "movie" to the database, but marked with a special flag (new genre or a separate flag) so that I can restrict a search only to series, if I want.

Thanks to online streaming, TV shows are readily accessible and growing in popularity. While I understand this service is exclusively for movies, adapting to include TV shows would make it more useful and expand the number of users.

Certainly, such a proposal would be challenging in many ways. The amount of content would nearly double. However, I am guessing the recommendation systems would not have to be rebuilt.

Perhaps this could be treated as a genre. I have seen titles of some series in the system. In particular, Black Mirror (2011) and Cosmos show within my top picks! However there is no indication they are actually series in their genre. There is a community tag "tv series" which brings these and other titles, but they do not necessarily match complete series. There are some anime series titles in the system too.
