Why this project doesn't have a Github?
It would be great if exists any open repository with commiters and contributors and people could implement more interesting features together?

It’s a cool idea, and worth further consideration. However, it is currently unlikely to happen given MovieLens’s utility as a research platform for our graduate students.

But at least features that are not so interesting for the students/research could be implemented faster when some github contributors thinks that these features are useful.
