API for creating and updating a profile
This is the best movie recommender...I want to incorporate movie lens recommendations into an app I am working on. Just want to be able to create account on movie lens for people coming from my site, add ratings for movies to movielens, and request movie predictions for other movies.

This is an excellent feature! A well documented API can lead to more activity around this project.
It does require some work and planning, but I think the end result could aspire more developers and students to use this site. -

The current API, although seemingly undocumented, appears to work just fine. However, I would prefer an OAuth2-based authentication mechanism over HTTP cookies, if possible!

I've noticed that there are endpoints such as movielens.org/api/movies/explore?q=
but it's unclear the endpoint for authentication... api/sessions doesn't seem to work... anyone know how to do this? thanks much. -
