  4. Ajax based refresh button and automatic refresh

I'm new to Movielens and I find it annoying to reload the whole page once I've rated already-watched movies in the recommendations, (which actually are more than 50-60% of the recommendations). It'd be great to have an ajax based refresh button to reload new recommendations. Moreover, an automatic refresh system would be great, once the system detects a certain number of rating to recommended movies.

  5. Incentivize tagging, edits, user loyalty

People love a t-shirt, a button for their backpack, or even a gold star next to their user name. If you're looking to increase user participation in tag maintenance, merch and/or some sort of premium account are the answer. 1000 tags, enjoy your new coffee mug. 5,000 tags, have some embroidered socks.1,000,000 tags, welcome to movielens gold where the movies rate you.

If this means we will be seeing ads on the site to support an overwhelming obligation to supply a huge influx of chronic taggers with cheap crap, then forget I suggested it.

  6. Show movies by similarity

I'd like a way to view the list of movies organised by similarity, e.g. setting, script writer, adapted from same source / remakes.

I’m interested in hearing ideas from movielens users on how we might operationalize these features.

  7. Put actor names and director name on the flip of the movie poster.

Then, like in a previous suggestion, once the poster is 'clicked' to see the full summary have the names 'click-able.' I believe these would be invaluable in finding movies that are close to the one that is being 'perused.'

  8. The Star colors have changed!

In the old movie lens, predictions were in red and what you've rated is in blue but that has switched, I find it a little confusing. It will probably be ok down the line when the new site is launched and only seeing the new way, but just wondering if there was a specific reason this was done

Interesting! Hadn’t thought users would care. Let’s see if this issue gets more support.

The two reasons for the current choice:

    1. part of our new site’s color palette
    2. we wanted the “rated” color to be more vibrant than the “predicted” color (unlike the current site).

  9. Movies grid

I see that you are using a fluid interface, but in my screen I am seeing 24 films in a grid of 5x5, leaving thus an empty position at the end.
I don't know what you can do and I see that 24 is a very divisible number, but there is this error case.
